Orange Coast Crew Wins 4 of 5 Races
The Orange Coast College crew won four of five events in a tri-meet with UCLA and UC San Diego Saturday at Ballona Creek in Marina del Rey.
With all races competed at 2,000 meters, OCC won the varsity four with a time of 7:01.1. UCLA was second at 7:27.8.
OCC’s junior varsity eight, ranked second on the West Coast, won with a time of 5:53.1.
The Pirates’ freshmen eight won with a time of 6:01.5, edging UCLA (6:02.0). UC San Diego was well behind at 6:21.0.
Orange Coast’s novice eight, 21-0 and No. 1 on the West Coast, won with a time of 6:30.6. UCLA (6:33.6) was second, followed by UCSD (7:06.5).
The Pirates lost in novice four to UCLA. The Bruins finished in 7:22.7, OCC in 7:32.8.
