About 1,500 people showed up seeking 80 part-time jobs as couriers and cargo handlers for Federal Express, which plans to expand its Los Angeles operations. Hundreds more were turned away during the weekend. Preliminary interviews were given to those who passed an initial screening. Some of the applicants will be called back for further interviews, the company said.
