Zoo Spares Rare Gorilla After Attack on Keeper

NEW YORK —
Bronx Zoo officials said Sunday that they will not destroy a rare female gorilla that attacked a zookeeper Saturday and bit off her right thumb and index finger. The keeper was reported to be in fair condition after surgery to reattach the index finger.
