Share

The local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution commemorated the 150th anniversary of Richard Henry Dana’s arrival in Dana Point Harbor on Monday with a plaque presentation at the harbor. The plaque was unveiled at the Orange County Marine Institute in front of the brig Pilgrim II, a replica of the ship Dana piloted from New England to the West Coast.

Attorney David T. Dana, a descendant of Richard Henry Dana, was present at the unveiling, as was county Supervisor Thomas F. Riley. Also present were Doris Walker, a Dana Point author and historian, and Father Paul W. Martin of Mission San Juan Capistrano, who were honored by the DAR for their accomplishments in preserving local history.
