Redondo Beach : Council TV Coverage Near

Share

The next-to-last step in the long haul toward television coverage of City Council meetings came this week when the council authorized purchase and installation of two video cameras.

Once the city installs the system and has a few dry runs, the council must simply vote to begin the live broadcasts. The decision means live coverage of the meetings on Century Cable could begin by the middle of July, City Manager Timothy Casey said.

The city estimates that it will cost $37,000 to purchase and operate the system during its first year.

Century Cable General Manager Bill Whetstone estimates that it will cost $3,500 to install the line needed for live telecasts. Century Cable, however, has agreed to install and maintain the line at no cost to the city, Casey said.
