West Hollywood : Program for Homeless OKd

Share

The City Council has approved a program to aid the city’s homeless and the hiring of at least three city officials to manage it.

The council last week agreed to commit up to $278,500 to run the program. The money, which is coming from Community Development Block Grants, will be used to hire program officials and set up a shelter in West Hollywood Park where the homeless will be offered emergency services and other assistance. City officials do not expect to spend all of the allocated funds.

The council also agreed to consider hiring two more program officials if needed. In March, the council approved the creation of the Homeless Outreach and Assessment Team to aid the city’s homeless.
