Culver City Planners Urge OK for Marina Place Report
The Culver City Planning Commission last week unanimously recommended that the City Council certify a revised draft environmental impact report on the massive Marina Place office project.
The City Council will vote on the report in about two months, associate planner Carol DeLay said. The council must also approve site and building plans for the 1.3-million-square-foot project.
The Prudential Insurance Co. wants to build one 12-story, two 17-story and two 15-story office towers, two single-story restaurants and a parking garage on an 18.3-acre site bounded by Washington Boulevard, Zanja Street and Glencoe and Walnut avenues.
Some residents of a nearby Venice neighborhood have complained that the project is too large and would increase traffic congestion and pollution in the area.
The commission rejected an environmental report more than a year ago, saying that it did not adequately address traffic, noise and other effects the project would have on the area. The site is on a narrow strip of Culver City that reaches into Venice.
