A nine-member advisory council has been formed to conduct a new planning study for the Castaic area.

Council members, who will meet for the first time June 2, represent a combination of small business, development, school, health, utilities, emergency services, agricultural and residential property interests, county Supervisor Mike Antonovich said.

The newly formed Castaic Citizens Planning Advisory Council includes Tom Blankenship, a utility company official; Kurt Freeman, director of a medical rehabilitation program; Dean Gallion, a market owner; Mike Keston, president of a development company, and Mike Koch of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Antonovich staff members Jo Anne Darcy, Dave Vannatta and George Malone will also serve on the council.

The group is expected to make recommendations on land use and development in the area within six months, Antonovich said.
