Socialist Mayor to Run for Governor of Vermont

BURLINGTON, Vt. —
Bernard Sanders, the Socialist mayor of Vermont’s largest city, announced his candidacy for governor Saturday with a promise to take on “the system, the big money” and the two major political parties. The speech to supporters at City Hall preceded a formal announcement scheduled for Monday in Montpelier.
