Dame Keiran Breeden Dies of Cancer
Dame Keiran Breeden of Bel-Air and County Galway, Ireland, has died of cancer at St. John’s Medical Center in Santa Monica. A family spokesman said she was in her 60s.
Widow of John Breeden, heir to a San Francisco real estate fortune who died in 1977, she purchased and restored after her husband’s death County Galway’s 12th-Century Tulira Castle, birthplace of the Abbey Theatre. For those efforts, she was made a Dame of Malta in 1985, a singular honor for an American.
