A 26-year-old Southwest Los Angeles man has been indicted by a federal grand jury in the shotgun-slaying of Dale J. Hooker, a U.S. Postal Service carrier killed late last month while making her rounds. The indictment charged Kerry Lynn Brown with first-degree murder and the use of a firearm during a crime of violence. He is expected to be arraigned May 19 in Los Angeles federal court. Assistant U.S. Atty. David Katz declined to discuss a possible motive for the shooting. Hooker, a 12-year postal employee and the mother of a small child, died after she was struck by a single shotgun blast as she stood on the porch of a house at 1911 W. 94th St. Brown was coaxed outside and arrested after officers surrounded the home.
