San Diego
A San Diego police officer used mouth-to-mouth and cardiopulmonary resuscitation to revive a 2-month-old infant who had stopped breathing for several minutes Monday night.
Officer Ernest Pierce responded to a report of a possible death in the 1600 block of Pentecost Way in Southeast San Diego. Upon arriving at the house, Pierce found Thomas Clark attempting to revive his son, Thomas II. Pierce worked to resuscitate the baby for seven minutes before the infant began to cough and started breathing, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
Paramedics from the San Diego County Fire Department took the child to Paradise Valley Hospital in National City, where he was listed in satisfactory condition Tuesday afternoon, Robinson said. Pierce has been recommended for a departmental commendation, he said.
