UC San Diego’s Baseball Team Will Meet Stanislaus in the Western Division III Playoffs

The UC San Diego baseball team, after compiling a 22-16-2 record, earned a berth in the NCAA Western Division III playoffs this weekend in Turlock against Cal State Stanislaus. This is the Tritons’ first trip to the playoffs since joining Division III two years ago.

UCSD recorded a .329 team batting average this season, eclipsing its 1984 record of .289. Catcher Bob Natal also set school records with his .392 batting average, 15 homers and 56 RBIs.

The best-of-five playoffs, which begin Friday at 3 p.m. and run through Sunday. The winner will advance to the NCAA Division III College World Series.
