Industry : Waste Plant Talks Planned
Proceedings to determine whether the county Sanitation Districts will be required to obtain state Energy Commission approval for proposed waste-to-energy plants at the Puente Hills landfill will begin with a conference at 10 a.m. May 28 at Industry City Hall.
The Hacienda Heights Improvement Assn. has accused the Sanitation Districts of trying to evade the commission’s jurisdiction; the districts contend that they have not yet formulated a project that requires commission action. Garret Shean, commission hearing officer, will conduct the meeting to review the allegations and the district’s response and to establish a schedule for discovery proceedings and evidentiary hearings.
