Long Beach : Hearing for Quarterback

Share

A hearing will be conducted Monday by the expulsion panel of the Long Beach Unified School District in the case of Wilson High School quarterback Bobby San Jose.

San Jose, 18, and six juvenile students were arrested at the school on May 1 in connection with the alleged sale of drugs to a policewoman posing as a student. Although prosecutors for Long Beach and Los Angeles County declined to file charges in any of the cases, the students have not been allowed to return to class pending the expulsion hearings.

At stake may be San Jose’s grant-in-aid football scholarship to UCLA. The university cannot offer a scholarship to a student who has not obtained a high school diploma.
