The Major Indoor Soccer League will have a team based in New York for the 1986-87 season, the league’s board of directors announced in Minneapolis.
The board approved the sale of its New York territorial rights to a group of Long Island businessmen, including former player Shep Messing. The team, named the New York Express, will play its home games at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y.
