A woman was killed Saturday morning when a motorcycle driven by her husband slid out of control and collided with an oncoming pickup truck on Highway 94 east of this tiny back-country community, the California Highway Patrol said.
The victim was identified as Constance Reckinger, 30, of San Diego. Her husband, Wade, 28, suffered a broken right leg, the CHP said.
The Reckingers were traveling east on California 94 about 45 m.p.h. when Wade Reckinger reportedly attempted to pass a car on a curve. One of the motorcycle’s foot pegs hit the ground, causing the vehicle to slide on the pavement and into oncoming traffic, the CHP said.
The driver of the truck, Walter Camp, 69, of El Cajon, was unable to avoid Constance Reckinger. Her neck and chest were run over, the CHP said.
She was pronounced dead on arrival at Grossmont Hospital.
