Two Firms Win Pasadena AIA Honor Awards for Achievment
Two Awards of Honor were given in this year’s competition of the Pasadena and Foothill chapter of the American Institute of Architects, held this year as part of the Pasadena Centennial celebration.
The honor awards went to CHCG Architects of Montclair for the president’s suite at Southern California College of Optometry, and to Group Arcon for the restoration of the James Oviatt Building in downtown Los Angeles.

The name of Charles Walton Associates AIA Inc. was inadvertently omitted from the list of Citation winners in the awards program of the Pasadena & Foothill chapter of the American Institute of Architects that appeared in the real estate section May 18. The winning project was a garden office building in Glendale.
Awards of Merit went to CHCG Architects, to Neptune & Thomas Associates and to the five firms involved in the design of the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Conference Center: James G. Spencer, CHCG Architects, Leidenfrost/Horowitz & Associates, Gilbert L. Herschberger, and Stuart Denker Design.
Citation Awards were given to CHCG Architects, Pulliam, Matthews & Associates, Spencer & Aroyan Associates, Group Arcon and Ewing Associates. Citations for projects not yet built went to Pedersen, Beckhart, Wesley & Stice Architects, and to Wolff-Lang-Christopher/Architects.
The awards will be presented May 30 at the Green Hotel, Pasadena, at a reception featuring color slides of the award nominees, to be followed by a dinner dance. Details and reservations may be obtained from the chapter office.
