The opening of the $56-million, nine-story Marina Beach Hotel in Marina del Rey marks the third hotel for the Marina Hotels group in that seaside community.

The new 300-room Marina Beach Hotel at 4100 Admiralty Way joins the Marina International and Marina del Rey hotels, opened in the ‘60s and the ‘70s, respectively, and its 9,000 square feet of meeting and convention space target it for both business and vacation travelers.

Other special features include the Signature Club concierge floor, offering additional guest amenities; view balconies with all guest rooms, two restaurants, a presidential suite, swimming pool, and a private penthouse club for members and guests.

Skidmore, Owings & Merrill of Los Angeles, which designed the facility, chose rolling lines and a sandy hue to make it identifiable as a seaside hotel; the landscaping firm of Raymond & Hansen of Santa Monica selected five-story Mexican sand palms and brilliant coral trees to add to the resort feeling.

Guests enter the hotel by a long, sweeping, flower-lined driveway and porte cochere to a two-story open lobby with registration, concierge and bar areas. The decor is in soft pastel shades accented by marble and brass.

Dining facilities include the Stones restaurant, featuring gourmet cuisine, and the La Cour, for more casual dining in an atrium setting. Recreational amenities include jogging and bike trails, sunbathing at an inland beach, the nearby Fisherman’s Village and the Fun Fleet of boats which arranges for special tours.

The construction of Marina Beach Hotel was undertaken by Turner Construction, Los Angeles, and interior design was done by Barry Design, Los Angeles.
