L.A. Police Given an F

As a longtime member of the Westside Fair Housing Council I am so very proud of our part in the battle to gain fair and open housing for Tori and Robson Dufau. But (the council) and the Dufaus couldn’t make it on their own. What the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights guarantees, equal housing, the Dufaus were denied in this land of the brave, this home of the free.

Where were the good people in their neighborhood? Where were the police when these acts of violence were perpetrated. Where were they when the . . . rabbit was shot? Why was no one patrolling the neighborhood? Surely, basic freedoms were involved here. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Perhaps (the council) should have hired a private detective, but we had every reason to believe that the police would be available to this couple and their small children who were suffering at the hands of some crazed neighbors. Was it necessary to wait to see if the threats of bodily harm were carried out? I think not. So, for Westside Fair Housing Council--an A+. For the Los Angeles Police Department--an F.
