Orange : Chapman Class of 1936 to Be Honored Sunday
Chapman College will honor its class of 1936 with a special “re-graduation” ceremony Sunday on the campus’s Sunken Lawn.
About 24 of the 61 original members of the class, most of whom are in their 70s, will be inducted into the college’s “50-Year Club” and will march in cap and gown as part of this year’s commencement exercises.
Among the 1936 graduates are Joe Moody, who as student body president pushed for the then-controversial enlargement of Chapman’s gymnasium, and Dorteo Ines, who as a student was president of the Filipino Community of Southern California. Ines later became the first Filipino Consul for Los Angeles.
Baccalaureate services for the Class of 1936 will begin at 11:30 a.m. Sunday in Memorial Hall.
