No One Hits Top Lottery Prize Now Worth $12 Million
SACRAMENTO --A retired Air Force man from Riverside won $1 million Saturday in the California Lottery, but 15 contestants failed to capture the grand prize, pushing the “Big Spin” pot to a record high of $12.23 million.
Lee Gordon Jr., 51, the 13th contestant to spin the wheel, said he plans to give some of the $1-million prize money to his son and daughter and to buy himself a camper “for hitting the road.”
Two contestants won $100,000, six won $50,000 each, and six others each won $10,000.
The grand prize now stands at $12.23 million. Grand prizes begin at $3 million and increase by $65,000 each time a contestant fails to win it.
The last big winner was an 86-year-old Banning woman who won $4.6 million March 22. Since then, 142 people have spun the wheel in unsuccessful attempts to win the top money.
