The National Labor Relations Board has found merit in several charges filed against Barton Memorial Hospital in South Lake Tahoe by a striking union, a board official said. Paul Eggert of the board’s regional office in Oakland said it appeared that hospital administrators were not bargaining in good faith and had taken action against workers because of their union activities. Ron Newton, chief administrator at the hospital, denied the allegations and said he was certain they would be dismissed. But he added that the hospital would try to resolve the problems out of court. The 200-member Hospital and Institutional Workers Local 250 went on strike Wednesday in a dispute over union recognition. Newton said everything was running smoothly at the hospital with supervisors replacing the striking workers.
