The Coast Guard found objects from a missing 72-foot trawler but was unable to determine its fate. The vessel had reported it was about to be hit by another ship in heavy fog. Three crewmen aboard the San Francisco-based fishing boat, Jack Jr., said in a distress call that they were in “imminent danger” of being struck seven miles west of Point Reyes. However, no other communications from the boat or reports of an accident were received, the Coast Guard said. “We can’t confirm what happened to it,” spokeswoman Kathleen Potter said. “Nothing was reported.” A life ring and fishing box, both marked with the vessel’s name, along with an unmarked life jacket, were found in the sea off Point Reyes.
