NBC’S ‘MIAMI VICE’ IN EARLIER SLOT

NBC made news recently when it decided to slot its hit police series, “Miami Vice,” against CBS’ long-running “Dallas” next season. But NBC isn’t waiting to make the move. “Miami Vice” moves to Fridays at 9 p.m. beginning June 6.

“We are using the summer to get a head start on the competition by developing a habit for ‘Miami Vice’ at an earlier hour,” explained Brandon Tartikoff, president of NBC Entertainment.

Its old time slot of 10 p.m. Fridays will be filled by reruns of “Stingray,” NBC said. Although the action-adventure series starring Nick Mancuso was not placed on NBC’s fall schedule, it has been renewed as a mid-season replacement for next season.
