FANTASTIC : KIROV BALLET

Bernheimer’s opening review of the Kirov in Vancouver was lavish with praise and I’ve heard his other Vancouver reviews were favorable too.

We feared for his health.

But Bernheimer’s review of the Kirov’s opening night performance in Los Angeles May 21 was reassuring. His clever stinging metaphors and damned-with-faint-praise remarks were back in form. We no longer fear for his health.

Actually, I liked the Kirov “Swan Lake” better than he did, but then I seem to like everything better than he does. It’s probably I don’t have the opportunity to witness as many musical and dance events, don’t know as much about these subjects, and am more easily pleased.

I’d make a lousy reviewer, but I’m a fairly good audience.
