Cable TV Decision Delayed by Council

Share

The City Council has postponed for two weeks a decision on whether to approve the transfer of its Group W Cable franchise from Westinghouse Electric Corp. to a consortium of five cable firms. Group W asked for the delay to review the city’s concerns over the pending transfer.

Of the five South Bay cities served by Group W, only Gardena has approved the transfer although it has postponed approval of Century Southwest Cable Television, one of the five firms in the consortium. The city is conducting a financial review of Century’s ability to operate the system.

The other three cities served by Group W are El Segundo, Hawthorne and Lawndale.
