Role of Irvine Co. in Upcoming City Council Election
I do not disagree with the Irvine Co.’s efforts to support City Council candidates--it is a constitutional right. However, the company’s apparent goal of achieving a developer-controlled council majority through the election of Tom Jones and Hal Maloney is now visible to Irvine voters. We have a clear choice on Election Day.
Opposition candidate Ed Dornan’s remark in your article (May 18) sums up our choices well: “Residents have to decide whether they wish to turn the city over to the developers.”
I believe that it is time to return the City of Irvine to its residents.
