Five engineering students from three Southern California universities received scholarship awards ranging from $2,000 to $500 during Student Night at Caltech sponsored by the Associate Member Forum of the Los Angeles section, American Society of Civil Engineers.

The section said that awards were based on the recipients’ academic records, participation in civil engineering activities, interest in the engineering field and leadership potential.

The top award of $2,000 went to Carrie Phelan of Orange, attending Loyola Marymount University. One of the two $1,000 awards also went to a Loyola Marymount student, Christopher Stone of Los Angeles, and the other to Joel Adamson of Mission Viejo, attending UC Irvine.
