English Horse Killed After Much Suffering

LONDON —
Great Nephew, sire of English Derby winners Shergar and Grundy, and dual champion sire, was destroyed at the Dalham Hall stud, Newmarket, on Saturday.
Before retiring to stud in 1968, Great Nephew, 23, won the Group One Prix du Moulin De Longchamp in Paris, and finished second in the English 2,000 Guineas.
“The horse had lost condition and no other decision could be taken to save him from suffering.”
