Sun Valley Couple Pleads Guilty to Income Tax Evasion
A Sun Valley couple pleaded guilty to one felony count of federal income tax evasion during the 1981 tax year, the Internal Revenue Service announced Tuesday.
Neal Leroy Moser and Kim Irene Moser, both 42, entered the guilty pleas Monday before U.S. District Judge Robert J. Kelleher, said Frederick C. Nielsen, IRS district director for the Los Angeles area.
The Mosers were indicted by a federal grand jury March 25 on three counts of income tax evasion. The indictment alleged that the couple failed to report $95,997 in income he received from work he did for the B. C. Rich Guitar Co. of Los Angeles, resulting in the evasion of $22,296 in federal income tax, Nielsen said.
The Mosers each could be sentenced to a maximum of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine and repayment of the cost of prosecution, Nielsen said. The couple will also be required to pay the taxes and penalties due, he said.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled June 30.
