Man Fatally Hurt as Car Hits Van
A 66-year-old Santa Ana man was fatally injured at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday when his car crashed into the rear of a van that was making a left turn on South Fairview Street, Santa Ana police reported.
Sgt. Ken Koorndyck said the victim, Vincent Joseph Chiarello, was pronounced dead on arrival at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital.
Chiarello’s car, headed north in the 3000 block of South Fairview, struck a van driven by Peter Girard, 30, of Azusa. Girard suffered head and back injuries and was also taken to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital.
