Santa Ana Seeks a New Fire Chief
The Santa Ana City Council has voted to pay a recruiting firm about $20,000 to search for a new fire chief.
City officials said they hope to appoint a new chief by November. Candidates must have at least a bachelor’s degree, with a master’s preferred, and 10 years’ experience in fire safety. The city will begin accepting bids from recruiting firms for the contract.
William Reimer, who took over as fire chief in 1979, has been on leave since January. He is expected to return to work soon in a new position as assistant to the city manager, with duties including overseeing development of a new police and fire training center.
