Becker Upset in French Open

PARIS —
Mikael Pernfors, an unseeded Swede who played college tennis at the University of Georgia, upset third-seeded Boris Becker of West Germany today to advance to the semifinals of the French Open, where he will meet the last hope of France, Henri Leconte.
Pernfors used an aggressive game and a flood of errors by Becker for a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, 6-0 victory. The eighth-seeded Leconte won his match over Andrei Chesnokov of the Soviet Union 6-3, 6-4, 6-3.
