The Forecast Is for More June Gloom

The predictable weather pattern of late-night and early-morning low clouds clearing to partial afternoon sunshine will continue to foil sun-seeking San Diegans through this weekend, the National Weather Service said Thursday.

The only change in the weather for the weekend is that the drizzle that wetted some parts of San Diego County the last couple of nights is not expected to continue, forecaster Richard Stitt said.

“The inversion has weakened enough to exclude the drizzle, but otherwise there’s really not going to be much change,” Stitt said. “The weekend weather forecast is for more of the same, just the usual night and early-morning low clouds, with no major temperature changes.”

The inland areas will continue to have more afternoon sunshine than the coastal areas. The high temperatures for the inland areas will range from 75 to 83 degrees, while overnight lows should be in the 55- to 62-degree range.

There will be only partial afternoon clearing near the coast, where the night and morning low clouds will not dissipate as much as in the inland valleys. High temperatures will range from 69 to 74 degrees, with lows expected to range from 58 to 63 degrees. The ocean temperature will be 68 degrees.

Mountain areas should expect some drizzle during the late-night and early-morning hours, as well as the usual late-night and morning fog and low clouds along the lower coastal slopes. The highs will range from 70 to 78 degrees and the lows from 50 to 58 degrees.

Desert regions should be fair and hot, with highs ranging from 97 to 105 degrees, and overnight lows in the 67- to 75-degree range.
