A reputed street gang member serving a one-year term for felony narcotics possession was sentenced to an extra six months after pleading no contest to charges of destroying public property during an April 23 riot at Los Angeles County Jail. Prosecutors said Albert Sutton, 20, appeared to be the leader of the two-hour incident, which began when about 100 gang members refused to re-enter their cells after showering. “At one point,” City Atty. James K. Hahn said, “Sutton was spotted using the metal cover of a floor drain as a club to smash the lock on a manual gate-control box.”
