Robber Takes the Money and Runs
A man who literally took the money and ran Friday is sought by police in Huntington Beach and Garden Grove for robbing bank customers in both cities within a two-hour period.
At about 2 p.m. Friday, a man standing in line inside the California First Bank at 17122 Beach Blvd. in Huntington Beach grabbed a bag containing an undisclosed amount of money from a customer and ran, said Sgt. Jerry Evans of the Huntington Beach Police Department.
Witnesses said the man, described as white and in his mid-20s, got into a small brown car driven by another man and the car sped away.
Shortly thereafter, a man meeting the same description took money from a customer at the Security Pacific National Bank at 13952 Brookhurst Ave. in Garden Grove. The man also fled in a car driven by a second man, according to Garden Grove Police Sgt. Harlen Hanson.
No weapons were used and no injuries were reported.
