Former Oakland A’s pitcher Mike Norris launched another comeback Friday night, pitching three innings for the Class A San Jose Bees and giving up four unearned runs in a game against Palm Springs at San Jose.

Norris gave up three hits and a walk, and recorded three strikeouts. He left the game after giving up a grand slam following a two-out error. This gave Palm Springs a 4-2 lead. San Jose rallied to win, 10-9.

Norris, 31, was making his first appearance of the season, having been released by the Bees April 18 after being late for several games and missing others. Publicity about the comeback helped push attendance to 2,100, about three times larger than usual.

Norris said he agreed to return to the Bees because it “beats what I was doing”--playing shortstop for a softball team.
