Congratulations to the people of California! They were not taken in by the misrepresentations and outright lies of the trial lawyers on Proposition 51, who made the classical mistake of underestimating the intelligence of the electorate.
One hopes this will be reflected in the next election of those who sold their soul and their ethics--like Atty. Gen. John Van de Kamp and Zev Yaroslavsky--and those who backed them--like Assembly Speaker Willie Brown (D-San Francisco).
