Hermosa Beach : Council Rejects Salary Cut
On a 3-2 vote, the City Council rejected a proposal by new Councilwoman Etta Simpson to reduce council salaries to $150 a month from $300.
Simpson and Councilwoman June Williams supported the motion, arguing that the five council members should set an example of fiscal restraint.
But Councilman John Cioffi, in joining Councilmen Jim Rosenberger and Mayor Tony DeBellis in defeating the pay cut, argued that present and future council members have a right to be compensated for managing the city. He said council members can give back their salaries if they want.
