Share

The city’s redevelopment project advanced a step with the selection this week of firms to assist the city in purchasing land on the site and relocating the residents and businesses.

Security Land and Right of Way Services of Long Beach was chosen to help with the acquisition of land in the redevelopment area west of the San Diego Freeway and south of Rosecrans Avenue. Port and Flor Inc. of Manhattan Beach was picked for the relocation assistance.

The city’s contract with Port and Flor specifies that the city will be billed $55 an hour for work performed by the firm’s principal, $45 an hour for work done by an associate and $16 an hour for typing.

Security Land and Right of Way will receive a percentage of the sales price of parcels purchased by the city. The percentage varies according to the price of the land.

Both firms worked for Hawthorne when the city developed the Hawthorne Plaza during the mid-1970s.
