Coroner Identifies Man Who Died After Taser Shots

A man who died last week after police officers shot him with Taser stun guns and struck him with night sticks has been identified as Robert Herbert Bobier, 31, of Canoga Park, county coroner’s spokesman Bill Gold said Wednesday.

Bobier died in the early morning of June 2 after police subdued him when he was found “kicking and cursing an imaginary opponent” in a darkened room at the French American School in Van Nuys, according to a police spokesman. Police said witnesses saw Bobier striking his head on a curb in front of the school before he climbed a fence and entered the building.

The surgical phase of an autopsy on Bobier failed to determine the cause of death and toxicology tests have not been completed, Gold said.
