Rafer Johnson, the decathlon gold medalist in the 1960 Olympic Games, and Terry Donahue, UCLA football coach, were among 21 people honored at the 41st annual Alumni Awards of Excellence ceremony.

Johnson, who graduated from UCLA in 1959, is a member of the UCLA Chancellor’s Associates and the track representative of the Athletics and Academics Program of the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. Donahue, who has led the Bruins to four straight post-season victories, including Rose Bowl wins in 1983, ’84 and ‘86, received an award for professional achievement.

Five Crossroads School baseball players and Brentwood School senior pitcher Mark Hamilton were named to the All-Delphic League team by a vote of league coaches.

First-team selections from Crossroads were senior catcher Cliff Hughes, junior pitcher Mike Le Buffe, junior infielder Carl Distefano, sophomore outfielder Steve Solomon and sophomore utility man Eddie Lample.

Included on the second team were junior pitcher Jason Robman and senior infielder Jon Drimmer, both of Crossroads, and Brentwood’s Xan Converse, a junior infielder, and David Vaccaro, a junior utility player.
