Santa Ana : Council Expected to Select Interim Manager
- Share via
City Council members are expected to select an interim city manager Monday to fill in when Robert C. Bobb steps down July 7.
Bobb sent a memo to each council member last week detailing the backgrounds and relative strengths of four candidates for interim city manager--deputy city managers Rex Swanson, Jan Perkins and Raymond C. Davis and community development director David Ream.
Vice Mayor P. Lee Johnson said he expects a selection Monday and that Bobb had not made a specific recommendation among the four city employees.
A permanent city manager will probably not take over until November or December, according to council members. A firm is expected to be hired to conduct a nationwide search for a replacement.
Councilman John Acosta said the permanent selection should not be the interim manager.
Bobb announced two weeks ago that he will resign to take over the same post in Richmond, Va. He began working in the top civic post in February, 1984, after a stint as city manager of Kalamazoo, Mich.
