Reprinting Will
Imagine my surprise and consternation to open the Travel Section June 1 and see George Will’s column of May 22 reprinted therein. Does the Times Travel Editor feel that people who travel don’t read the editorial pages? I fail to see any sensible reason to reprint such tripe other than an attempt to goad “cowed and frightened” Americans (like myself) into travel in areas that could be troublesome, to say the least. In retrospect, I can see why Will wrote such a ridiculous column in the first place. He must be involved in some aspects or workings of the travel industry. Else why does he plead his case so strongly? I say, “Fight terrorism--American stay home!”
