Fire Forces Evacuation
WATERBORO, Me. — Fire swept through a metal finishing plant Monday, forcing residents to flee their homes because of the threat of toxic fumes. About 250 people living near Southern Maine Finishing Co. were evacuated as a precaution, and there was no evidence that hazardous materials had been released, officials said.
