Mostly Sunny Skies Will Greet Summer
Summer may be on its way, but a change of season doesn’t mean there will be a change in the weather.
Summer officially begins in San Diego at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, said forecaster Wilbur Shigehara of the National Weather Service. The typical June weather pattern of late night and early morning low clouds clearing to sunshine by mid-morning will not change over the weekend, however.
“The low pressure in the desert is pulling in the clouds at night, and the stable temperatures are a result of these low clouds,” Shigehara said. “It’s a very repetitious thing, but a pleasant one.
Highs in the inland valleys will range from 75 to 85 degrees over the weekend. Overnight lows will be in the 50s.
Beaches will continue to be partly cloudy in the morning hours, clearing to sunshine by midday. Highs will be between 66 and 71 degrees, with lows from 58 to 63.
Desert areas will be spared the the low clouds and will remain hot, with highs ranging from 102 to 108 degrees. Overnight temperatures will be in the upper 60s and lower 70s.
The mountain areas also will be clear, with highs in the mid-70s and lows in the 43- to 51-degree range.
