The South Side Serial Killer Task Force is investigating the slaying of a woman whose remains were found, concealed in shrubbery, outside the gates of a Torrance industrial plant. Police said the woman, who was fully clothed but carried no identification, appeared to be Asian, between 30 and 40 years old, and had apparently died as the result of massive head injuries. An autopsy has been ordered. The task force was formed to track down a killer believed responsible for the murders of as many as 17 women, many of them prostitutes, during the past three years, but police refused to comment on similarities or differences between this latest slaying and previous murders attributed to the serial killer.
