“Whoopi Goldberg.” Vestron. $59.95. In this 75-minute performance, Goldberg never lets the audience forget the fine line between comedy and drama, The material, like her stunning Valley girl skit, straddles that line and unpredictably drifts in either direction. In such portrayals as a 9-year-old girl who doesn’t want to be black, the dramatic undertones are often unnerving. You don’t really laugh all-out at characters like the male junkie because the situation is as tragic as it is comic. Richard Pryor is the king of disturbing poignant comedy, but Goldberg isn’t far behind.
