A policeman shot and killed his neighbor in Haiti after an argument over which teams would reach the finals of the World Cup soccer tournament.
After watching Argentina defeat England, 2-1, Sunday, the unidentified policeman shot 23-year-old Rodrigue Mouval twice. The officer fled, authorities said.
Soon after the shooting, area residents filled a street with burning tires and screamed: “justice or death.”
Authorities said the neighbors knew the policeman who shot Mouval and proceeded to sack his home.
Neighbors said the two men sat together and watched the quarterfinal match on television between England and Argentina. After the match, they argued about which teams would play in the final game Sunday in Mexico City.
